10 Questions with Supa Dave:
1. How did you get into the nightlife profession?
I went to school and got a degree in television and radio broadcasting. While I was at FIU I started hosting events on campus. Which lead me to hosting parties, then eventually clubs. Hosting clubs just comes with the job description of being a radio and TV personality. Since then, I have hosted concerts, charity events, MMA fights, weddings, barmitzvahs, and corporate events… I mean you name it, I have hosted it.
2. What is your favorite part of working in the nightlife profession?
I love music; so working on the radio at Power 96.5 has been a dream for me. And, I mean lets be honest, what other job is there that you can have fun with your friends and get paid for it.
3. What is the hardest part of working in the nightlife profession?
Keeping peoples interest. There are so many options out there. For the most part people have seen it all. To me it’s all about how you deliver what you do. I make sure that when I’m on the mic my energy is contagious.
4. What is your favorite type of music?
Depends where I’m at:
At the Gym – Hip Hop.
At the Club – House music.
In the Shower – Karaoke classics… sing it with me… SWEET HOME ALABAMA…
5. What do you think makes a really good party?
First liquor. Not that you need to drink to have a good time, but I have found that people always have more fun when they are a little saucy. So cheers to you my friend. Music is next. A good DJ and host is key to keep the crowd fist pumping all night. Lastly a good theme, it will keep your party from getting stale and redundant. I mean why have vanilla ice cream when you can throw some sprinkles on that bitch.
6. What is your favorite club/venue in South Florida (Miami, Ft. Lauderdale) and why?
I do Bongos on Friday nights with DJ Laz, DJ Zog, KC Chopz and Mendez Media Group. That party is always a good time. I seen it all and done it all there. I also really like Passion at the hard rock, LIV, Off the Hookah, Kitchen 305 and Arkadia. I mean the venue is secondary to the people running it. And all those places I just mention have an excellent staff of people who always know how to put on a great party.
7. What is something you wish people outside of the nightlife industry knew?
That being an entertainer is not easy. People see the facebook pictures of me with bottles and models and say, “ you have such an easy job”. No, I have fun job! Some people have no idea how much hours of work go into my craft. It’s a 24-hour a day thing for me. I haven’t taken a vacation in 2 years. So don’t mind if you see me partying on the job, cause I don’t get to clock out.
8. What is something interesting about you personally that you would like people to know?
I don’t know. I’m still surprised people want to know about me at all. I’m such a nerd at heart. My life consists of 3 things: work, working out, and watching tv. If you do any of those 3 things, then we can be friends.
9. What parties or events are you currently doing?
You can catch me on Miami’s Party Station POWER 96.5 rocking out on your radio. As far as clubs: Tuesdays at Kitchen 305, Thursdays Blue Martini Boca, Fridays Bongos in Downtown Miami, Saturdays- was doing Club 90 Degree but I will be starting Pulse Nightclub next week.
10. Any upcoming parties or events you’re excited about?
You can catch me all over Florida hosting your favorite parties and events. I got some TV stuff in the works that I can’t really talk about or the TV gods might snatch my first born. But in general I’m just really excited about my future and all the opportunities coming my way as of lately.
